The HL23 project is a high-end residential tower located between West 23rd Street and the High Line park in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, New York. The building, designed by Neil M. Denari Architects (NMDA), takes into account its proximity to the High Line park, adopting a unique shape and design that maximizes space and views.
The building features sculpted surfaces on its southern and eastern façades, which utilize the air rights from the former rail line. The east façade has a three-dimensional, bead-blasted stainless steel rain screen, which was pre-assembled off-site and then quickly installed. The north and south façades feature a custom curtain wall made of fritted glass and steel, with the ceramic frit serving as a graphic representation of the building's exposed steel frame. These systems were designed for easy prefabrication, shipping, and fast on-site assembly. Consulting services convered the building’s exterior design, from initial plans through construction, and helped with the fabrication and delivery of the fritted glass facades.
