THE MONOGLITH: A PRIMITIVE HUT, Installation at Glasstec 2026

22 October 2026

THE MONOGLITH: A PRIMITIVE HUT was presented at Glasstec 2026 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Designed and engineered by VIA in collaboration with glass manufacturer NorthGlass, the installation explores the architectural potential of massive cast glass and challenges conventional perceptions of glass as a lightweight, transparent building material. By emphasising thickness, mass, and structural presence, the project reimagines glass as a monolithic architectural element.

The VIA design and engineering team was led by Michael Min Ra (Founding Partner) and Adrian Betanzos (Principal), with contributions from Hae Jin Lee (Facade Consultant), Harold Lopez (Associate Engineer), George Guu (Associate Facade Consultant), Jun Ho Yang (Facade Consultant), and Maria Jones Delgado (Facade Consultant).

Keyan Rahimzadeh at Rhino Developer Meeting in Barcelona

25 September 2026

Keyan Rahimzadeh, Principal & Global Technical Director at VIA, participated as a speaker at the Rhino Developer Meeting, held in Barcelona on September 25, 2026.

In his presentation, “A Pipeline of Parts: Augmenting Rhino for Design and Fabrication at Scale,” Keyan explored how custom tooling and computational pipelines could bridge the gap between design intent and large-scale digital production. Drawing on VIA’s experience in computational design and advanced fabrication, the session highlighted the integration of digital workflows into complex architectural processes.

Hosted at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), the event brought together developers, designers, and researchers to exchange ideas and explore new possibilities in computational design and digital fabrication.

Adrian Betanzos at Zak World of Façades Mexico 2025

13 March 2025

Adrian Betanzos, Principal at VIA, participated as a speaker at the 173rd edition of Zak World of Façades, held in Mexico City on March 13, 2025. The conference brought together architects, engineers, and industry professionals to discuss innovations, emerging technologies, and sustainable approaches to façade design and engineering.

In his presentation, “If I Had Worked on These Innovative Projects,” Adrian explored the relationship between material innovation, architectural ambition, and environmental responsibility. He examined how pushing materials to their performance limits could offer more effective and sustainable design strategies, while reflecting on the technical processes and challenges behind the realization of innovative architectural projects.

Through this presentation, Adrian highlighted the importance of looking beyond the visible outcomes of architecture to understand the material intelligence, engineering, and fabrication processes that make ambitious designs possible.
